First Cambodian aid foundation for underprivileged children.
Krousar Thmey ("New Family" in Khmer) began life in the refugee camps in Thailand in 1991, and is the first Cambodian aid foundation for underpriviledged children. It is apolitical and non-denominational.
Currently operating in 14 provinces, Krousar Thmey is run by Cambodians, for Cambodians.
Our three programs:
- Education for Blind or Deaf Children: the only comprehensive education system for the Blinds and the Deaf in Cambodia, key to their integration;
- Child Welfare: protection centers and family houses for abandoned children, orphans, street children and victims of human trafficking, with respect of each and everyone's identity;
- Cultural and Artistic Development: school of arts and access to an artistic activity, to enable every child to appropriate their cultural heritage and develop creativity and self-confidence.
